Date: 13th/14th March 2017

Venue: Derby Suite, The Midland, Peter Street, Manchester. M60 2DS

The topic for this sandpit will be multi-scale Monte Carlo models for radiotherapy. Modelling in radiotherapy takes place across a very wide range of physical dimensions and time scales, incorporating models of the radiation track, cell survival, tumour response and beam delivery. The aim of this Sandpit is to draw together experts in the many forms of Monte Carlo modelling in radiotherapy, to discuss the challenges of developing multi-scale models. The purpose will be to discuss strategies for collaboration and integration to bridge the gaps between models and modelling scales, with a focus on:

  • Identification of the key projects, data, experiments or models required
  • Addressing the challenges of Monte Carlo modelling
  • Sharing knowledge

Sandpit delegates will work together to identify key projects for which a small amount of funding will be available, based on the principle of developing the research with a follow-on plan for future funding applications.
